Adoption Assistance Overview
Dow Jones is pleased to offer Adoption Assistance to full-time or regular part-time employee or fixed term contractor with headcount, with each instance of adoption. The program supports a reimbursement of 50% up to a maximum of $15,000 USD for documented expenses incurred in the legal adoption of a child who is not related to you by blood or marriage. An eligible child is an individual who is under the age of 18 or is physically or mentally incapable of self-care.
Reasonable and necessary expenses directly related to the adoption of a child are eligible through the plan. Expenses include agency and application fees, home study costs, attorney fees, court costs, transportation, lodging and immigration. Expenses incurred with respect to surrogate parenting arrangements may be reimbursable depending upon local legislation and customs.
A single claim request (per instance) for reimbursement should be submitted to CanadaBenefits@harpercollins.com. Claim forms can be found on HR Hub. You will be required to provide documentation of payment to support your claim. Reimbursement will be paid to you via the next available payroll cycle. Adoption Assistance Plan payments may be considered taxable to you. Please consult with your own tax advisor with regards to tax rules that may apply to Adoption Assistance payments.
